Bio

Formed in 2011 as a cover project turned emotive punk quartet, Hoi‑Poi (short for Hoi‑Poi Farplane Wind) rose from the Thessaloníki DIY scene. Operating with a self-deprecating sense of humor (“Bad for health – good for nothing”), they fuse fuzzy indie rock, grunge-era emotion, and hardcore urgency into tight, cathartic songs. Early material like the Powerhouse Dynamics and Happen EPs hinted at their growing ambition, leading to their debut LP Forever Knows Best (self-produced, 2016), which showcased their jarring transitions between melody and rawness.

Over the years, Hoi‑Poi built a reputation for chaotic but charismatic live shows, where brass tacks intensity meets emotional release. Their sound spans references to Dinosaur Jr., Mudhoney, Iron Chic, and Sunny Day Real Estate, with layered guitars and cathartic vocals reflecting life in-between nostalgia and self-sabotage.

With their growing cult following in Greece, they’ve played Schoolwave Festival (2016, 2018), Nasty Cut Fest 2023 (DK) and various DIY halls while crafting a capable live presence out of collective grit and creative DIY booking.
