Bio
Emerging from Gothenburg’s tight-knit DIY community in 2018, Mundane is a quartet steered by Auckland members with strong ties to Sekten venue and The Cult collective. Their debut album Ultra Sound (2024) arrived after a painstaking three-year build-up, blending alt-punk and emo sensibility with melodic grit and loud-quiet dynamics. The record reflects influences from Pixies, Nirvana, Weezer, and Midwest emo heavyweights like American Football and Modern Baseball.
The band is known regionally not just for music but also for organizing shows. Its members helped run Sekten in Gothenburg and book shows across Scandinavia. Naturally, the band has also experience from touring in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Poland, including performances at festivals such as Fairweather Fest (DE). Their live sets earned praise for their emotional sincerity and instrumental cohesion.
Looking ahead, Mundane emphasize community-building over spectacle: continuing DIY touring, promoting underground artists, and blending indie, punk, and emo elements into carefully crafted songs that resonate with sincerity and craftsmanship.
“An album three years in the making … Slowly crafting their sound … textured but with that indescribable DIY heart.” – Scene Point Blank
“Ultra Sound basks in the loneliness, isolation, and longing of being young… Mundane is filtering their own future on those bands’ sound. There would be no reason to not stock this album next to some of the classics.” – Dying Scene
