Topsy Turvy’s debut album It Can’t Be Easy is a powerful continuation of the band’s sci-fi punk saga, following three concept-driven EPs that explored alien encounters, planetary collapse, and humanity’s existential struggles. On this record, the French punk rockers bring their apocalyptic narrative to a full circle moment: nature rises against humankind, giving all living beings one final chance, on another planet. The album blends French punk with modern rock, delivering explosive energy, introspective moments, and seamless transitions between songs. Dual male and female vocals add dynamic contrast, enhancing the emotional range and storytelling depth of each track.
Crafted over nearly two years during the isolation of the pandemic, It Can’t Be Easy was recorded mostly at home, showcasing the band’s DIY spirit and creative resilience. Thematically, it expands beyond the alien invasion narrative to explore deeper personal themes—loss of control, identity, mortality, love, and human needs—while maintaining the sharp lyrical edge Topsy Turvy’s are known for.
